As a reminder, the City of Celina, in cooperation with the Upper Trinity Regional Water District (UTRWD), implemented water conservation measures as part of the Stage 1 Drought Contingency Plan earlier this summer.
During this stage, residents are asked to conserve water through mandatory and voluntary measures. Most importantly, all residents are required to comply with restrictions on certain non-essential water usage. We are grateful to those of you who immediately implemented these measures and continue to follow the guidelines. Your efforts have helped avoid further restrictions during these scorching summer days.
As a reminder, these are the mandatory water conservation measures currently in effect in Celina:
Sprinkler Usage
• Residents are required to immediately reduce landscape irrigation systems and hose-end sprinklers to a maximum of two (2) days per week. Irrigation of landscaped areas and building foundations is still permitted at any time when using a hand-held hose, drip irrigation, or a soaker hose.
Two days per week watering schedule:
Residential Addresses Ending in 1, 3, 5, 7, 9: Saturday & Wednesday
Residential Addresses Ending in 0, 2, 4, 6, 8: Sunday & Thursday
Prohibited Watering Times
• Residents are required to follow a mandatory time-of-day landscape irrigation schedule. No outdoor watering with automatic irrigation systems and hose-end sprinklers can occur from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
With August quickly approaching and to make sure each of us is doing our part to conserve water, please be advised that City staff will immediately begin issuing warning citations to residents failing to comply with the Stage 1 Drought Contingency Plan. If every home follows these guidelines, we can greatly reduce the potential for further restrictions in the foreseeable future.
